In the late 1970s and early 1980s, the director's mother was forced to abandon her home in southern Ecuador due to the state's abandonment of the rural areas, as an indirect consequence of the reactivation of the war conflict with Peru. Forty years later, the director writes a letter to his mother while retracing the path she once took.
