Dir. Charlotte Müller - 2019 - Belgium, France
Two single women in their forties are travelling by train between France and Belgium. Lou is going to illegally get an artificial insemination with a donor in Belgium, and Véronique is the mother of a little girl she had from the same process, legally. Both Lou and Véronique take this train connection from Paris to Brussels regularly.
Donor artificial insemination is the starting point of a journey revealing their doubts, their struggles, and their strength. No man’s land is the space in-between two countries with different laws on woman’s bodies and freedom. It is also the in-between space where we invent ourselves as women, inventing our lives and families off of the beaten track.
No man’s land is a journey into the life of two independent women reflecting on modern motherhood and making choices.
